The Future of Fire

We have now been in the business of supplying and installing gas, wood, and electric fires for 20 years. During this time, we have seen various heating options become popular for homes, both as primary and secondary sources of heat. We’ve observed that most city-based suburbs tend to prefer gas for heating, as well as for hot water and cooking. This makes sense to me.

When you are connected to the natural gas supply, which nearly 1.5 million people are in this state, you pay a quarterly fee for access. Therefore, if you’re going to connect, it makes sense to use gas for as much as possible—heating, hot water, cooking, pool heating, etc.—to get the most out of the connection fee.

There have been concerns about the longevity of the gas supply in our state, but Chris Minns, the current premier, has assured that the gas supply will not change in the near future.

The energy challenges in New South Wales are serious, and we don’t have nearly enough renewable energy entering the system. While reaching net-zero emissions by 2050 is a desirable goal, it will be a difficult and narrow path to achieve. Given the current cost of living, any government asking 1.5 million people to replace their gas appliances at their own expense would not be well-received.

While wood-burning fireplaces have a romantic appeal, their availability has also been a point of confusion. Ten years ago, we were sceptical about wood-burning installations in the area. However, we have not had a single refusal from anyone inquiring about installing one recently.

We always encourage people to check with their local council before purchasing or installing a wood-burning fireplace. All the brands we sell meet Australian standards and are very well-received.

The electric fireplace market has surged in the past two years, as developers love the “wow” factor these units bring. Currently, most electric fireplaces offer a 2kW heating capacity, which doesn’t quite match the heating power of gas and wood options. Electric fireplaces make excellent secondary heating sources and look fantastic. They’re also a great solution in areas where gas supply or flueing presents challenges.

Our business stands out because we are a true “one-stop shop.” You can come in, buy a product, and have it installed in the style you want. I always suggest people bring an image of their desired finished look, and we’ll bring it to life.

Support your local business, and in return, have the peace of mind that we’re here when you need us.
